MKG North Dublin is the first and only branch of the Minnesota Kali Group which is headquartered in Minneapolis Minnesota and was founded by Guro Rick Faye a leading student of Guro Dan Inosanto a protégé of the late Bruce Lee as well as many other highly skilled martial arts instructors from various countries and styles.
With this background, Guro Faye developed what he refers to as the MKG Method, which focuses on using martial arts to create better, more rounded individuals who will hopefully help make the world a little better in the process. By using a more drill-based rather than a competitive approach the emphasis is as much on the mental aspects of the arts as well as the physical. As well as highlighting the importance of laughter and play in the learning process, a very high level of skill can be learnt quickly.
MKG North Dublin offers weekly classes for students from age 4 years and up and is led by its Director and Senior Coach James Devine along with a team of energetic and experienced coaches. James is currently the highest qualified MKG instructor in Ireland and has over 30 years of experience in martial arts and 15 years of coaching experience with children and adults of all levels of ability. He believes strongly that martial arts can help improve a person’s life experience both through improved physical fitness and mental well-being.
We have designed each program to focus on helping each student whatever their age and/or ability to get the best out of themselves by using the philosophy and concepts of the late Bruce Lee and the teaching methods developed by Guro Faye.
We hope to inspire and encourage the students to be better than they were in the last class rather than trying to fit into some ideal model of what a martial artist should be.
